Tricks of the trade – reduce a blemish mega fast!

Isn’t it annoying? You have an exciting big event that you’ve looked forward to. You’ve drank loads of water, you’ve had your 5 a day (vegetables – not pints I might add!) and then the day before the event – wowzer! A huge blemish erupts, taunting you surreptitiously from under the dermis of your skin!

Well, that little blemish is in serious trouble now, as I am going to tell you how to declare war on it!

You need a few things.

Aspirin (assuming you aren’t allergic to aspirin!)
A mortal and Pestle or steak hammer, chopping board and plastic lid.

Simply grind your aspirin up in the mortar and pestle….or crush down into a fine powder, using the steak hammer and the plastic lid, so that you don’t spray it everywhere or take out someone’s eye with those evil aspirin shards!

Once you’ve managed to create a nice fine powder, add a couple of drops of hot water and dissolve in a bowl. You should by this point have a paste. If not you’ve got a bit over-zealous with the water. You need to ‘wet’ it, not drown it!

When you have your paste ready, cover the blemish and leave for as long as your little heart desires. You can add a drop of lemon juice if it’s super-severe, but don’t over do it as you’ll dry your skin out. You don’t want to look like a leather handbag that’s been baking under the desert sun for a week!

If you want to wear it to the shops, that’s absolutely fine, your choice. Or you might want to wash off. You can leave it on overnight and you can use the paste all over your face if desired as an exfollient. The salicylic acid dissolves the glue of the protein bonds in the skin, and helps to slough away all those dead skin cells. So you should have skin as radiant as a cherubs!

I really love this tip for reducing blemishes though. It reduces redness and brings the swelling right down so you can cover it easily with concealer. Easy Peasy and much cheaper than a shop bought lotion! I’ve just saved you a few quid there! You can get me a drink later 😉
