#RT ‘McCruelty – I’m hating it’ The truth on the sickening ordeals Mcdonald’s chicken’s suffer

There are many reasons the word Mcdonalds sickens me, from their role in deforestation and economic imperialism to the way they endorse fatty nutritionless junk food & target children. See this Greenpeace article which explains why using Mcdonalds and buying into the brand is one of the worst things you can do for the planet, fair trade and animals. http://www.mcspotlight.org/case/pretrial/factsheet.html

As if that wasn’t bad enough, always eager for the fast buck no matter how much suffering it causes, Mcdonalds uses factory chickens in their products which go through a horrifying ordeal before and during their deaths.
PETA says “In the slaughterhouses of McDonald’s U.S. and Canadian chicken suppliers, birds are dumped out of their transport crates and hung upside down in metal shackles, which can result in broken bones, extreme bruising, and hemorrhaging. Workers have the opportunity to abuse live birds, and birds have their throats cut while they are still conscious. Many birds are immersed in tanks of scalding-hot water while they are still alive and able to feel pain.

Whilst there is a humane method available to slaughter chickens, Mcdonalds to date refuses to insist it’s suppliers switch to it. The method known as CAK (controlled atmosphere killing) removes oxygen from the chickens environment and use a nonpoisonous gas to put them to sleep. This method therefore removes the barbaric conditions the chickens are slaughtered in.
According to wikipedia McDonald’s Corporation had annual revenues of $27.5 billion in 2012. As a multi-billion pound company they certainly have the budget to adopt and endorse greener ways, and kinder methods. If you feel strongly about this please write a letter to Mcdonalds asking them to switch to using chickens which are killed using the CAK method. You don’t even need to make any effort – PETA has written the letter for you, all you need to do is sign and press send here: https://secure.peta.org/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=1696
